What a day; there were TV crews, radio and other media here to see Amy return to her old school. Amy Williams started her Bath celebration tour from Hayesfield Upper School on Wednesday 3 March. She talked to the students and conducted a Question and Answer session in the Hall. Amy was presented with gifts and flowers and Erica Draisey, the Headteacher, invited Amy to open our new Sports and Performing Arts Centre when it is completed early in 2011. Amy said she would be delighted! Teachers, parents and friends were all here to offer their congratulations. The open top bus was waved off by our Sixth Form boys and girls as well as students and staff, with much waving of flags and cheering. Amy completed her secondary schooling at Hayesfield Girls’ School before going on to the Sixth Form at Beechen Cliff. She has been competing in the skeleton since 2002 and won Silver at last year's world championships in Lake Placid, New York. She lives in Bath, training at her event and working on a degree in Sports Performance at Bath University.
Congratulations to Amy from everyone here at Hayesfield
