Community Courses

Do you know a 90 year who could benefit from Wii fit classes?
We are offering support planning and brokerage for over 55s resident in Bath & North East Somerset who would like some outside help to look at their care arrangements and creative solutions to isolation and practical problems. This is not a substitute for social services, but we can help older people to take control of their own care and support package, advise them on what’s available and broker help with personal care, social activities etc. Please be aware that some of our support planners are volunteers.

Community Courses at Hayesfield School Technology College

Hayesfield offers a variety of courses that can be completed on line (all you need is an internet connection, and the time and discipline to complete the course). The courses offered are accredited so it may help you to further your career path, apply for a place in Higher Education or you may opt to take a course to broaden your horizons and keep your skills up to date.

What courses are on offer?

Applied ICT to AS level

This is a vocational course consisting of 3 units, one of which is externally assessed.

You will consider the impact of ICT in the modern world and present your findings in an e-portfolio. You will develop a range of skills to help you design web pages and animations.

The second unit considers the role of ICT in e-commerce and you are required to make a relational database.

The third unit is based on a financial model and you will learn a range of spreadsheet skills to develop and test a range of models. You will then be given a scenario and a partly completed model three weeks before the exam which you will improve and test in the exam.

In order to follow the course you will be given access to a complete set of on line resources.

For further details please contact Ms Jennings (Head of ICT) by email n.jennings@hayesfield.com or phone 01225 426151
